Seren Quarter Horses is owned and run by the Goodliffe Family, established in 1989 with the purchase of a Stallion by the name of Lunar Lucre. Since those humble beginnings they have become one of the leading quarter horse breeders in both South Wales and the United Kingdom.
South Wales enjoys a high concentration of quality quarter horse breeders with many of the season's best foals being produced here and some of the UK's best stallions standing at stud.
Seren Quarter Horses consistently, year on year, has produced fantastic young stock with the focus firmly on quality and affordability with a progressive breed program featuring both UK horses and imported stock.
At the heart of the operation is John Goodliffe. In the picturesque Vale Of Glamorgan, John's farm is some 120 acres rearing both horses and sheep.
John is passionate about the horses that he breeds at the farm and sees the stock that is bred here as a part of an extended family. Testimony to this is the ongoing correspondences from people who have bought horses over the years, many of whom compete with their quarter horses and are always eager to let John know how his boys and girls are doing.
SUMMER 2011 The summer of 2011 has been a settling down time for us after twenty years of Quarter Horse breeding. We are looking forward to the next ten year breeding cycle. As part of preparing for the next ten years, we have been fortunate enough to purchase two super brood mares. My Girl Rosy from Adele Gilbby in Nottingham and Zops Shocka Star from Gill Armstrong in Macclesfield. Both mares have proved to be super horses, we are so pleased to be able to add them to our brood mares. They are both scanned in foal and as it turns out they are half sisters as they are both sired by MQH Jack The Zipper – what a bonus.
